Poll question: The sign of a healthy compromise is... |
everyone is pissed. How do you feel about this statement?

1. As a professional mediator, it's possible to have everyone pissed and |
still have a shitty result after negotiations.

3. If everyone is pissed then you didn't accomplish a thing. |
A compromise is where both sides are kind of happy, but not as happy as they would be if they completely go their way. If you take the worst ideas from both sides and call that compromise then something else is wrong.

7. "Pissed" is not the best term to use. |
Both sides are disappointed in not getting everything they wanted, but relieved b/c it's over and they saved face.

5. No. However, it's typical of compromises that nobody |
is really satisfied completely. For adults, accepting that you will not get everything you hoped for is a sign of maturity. Not all adults are capable of that level of reasoning. They didn't learn that valuable piece of information during their childhood, so that childish notion continues. Few times in our lives are we completely satisfied with how things turn out in reality. Losing one's temper over it is not productive.

6. Other. Both sides are HAPPY. |
If each side thinks they got the best of the deal, THAT is a good compromise.
That's why there are so few good compromises.

9. What exactly would Republicans be pissed off about in the Go6 plan? |
Lower tax rates? Entitlement cuts?
Please elaborate.
