If the Gang of Six proposal is adopted...
... then, in a broad way, Obama gets pretty much what he wanted. Is that right?

1. I'd agree with that -- I think this the GOP's attempt to save face politically

They've finally come to realize that this is not a political winner for them (hence McConnell's worrying about it hurting the Republican "brand"). By the Gang endorsing what Obama wanted, they can claim that they are capable of compromise, though they didn't get a thing they wanted!

3. Well, you're right, but you're wrong
See, anything good that might come out of the Gang of Six proposal would indeed be what President Obama wanted. Anything bad would be a tough choice forced on the president by political realities, and you don't quite understand the process, you dirty fucking hippie. And, if some of the good things (tax hikes on the wealthy) had to be sacrificed to get a bill (that cuts social security and medicare), it's because Something Had To Be Done, and you can't really fault Obama for acting quickly to head off a potentially disastrous development. We'll fix it all later, mmmkay?

13. Oh yeah, he's a closet republican...a vote for obama is a vote for
turning the democratic party even farther to the right.

17. i guess so?
I think we should just trust our president in every decision he makes and should just support that, you know, and be faithful in what happens.
