The Republicans don't really care about the deficit

There is nothing they can use against Obama. There have been no terrorist attacks in the U.S. on the scale of 9/11. No scandals associated with his administration. Obama isn't incompetent like George W. Bush. All they have is the deficit which is only partially Obama's fault. That's all they have on him. That's the reason they don't want to raise the debt ceiling. They want to use this issue to the greatest extent possible and they don't care about the consequences.
