"I spoke with Barney Frank today about the current debt ceiling debate. He said he would not vote for any bill that raised the debt ceiling which included cuts to Social Security or Medicare benefits, including a chained CPI, which is included in the Gang of 6 deal.

Frank has been a supporter of increasing, not decreasing, the way cost-of-living adjustments to Social Security are calculated. ”Old people use a lot more medicine and buy a lot fewer ipods” he said, referring to the way that increases are currently calculated..."

12. I am not a regular reader of FDL

Actually I'm not even a casual reader. Of course I occasionally see the references to it here, and observe the vitriol directed toward Ms. Hamsher. I have never had much of an opinion on it or on her, being largely unfamiliar with her work.

I will say though that what I saw of her on Ed tonight was excellent. Maybe I was subconsciously expecting her to have horns and cloven hooves or something, due to how she has been characterized here, but I really thought she was terrific. I think I will pay more attention to her in the future.

25. She was excellent, expressing real Democratic Values

and explaining to people what they are, which so few in this administration seem to even know, or care about. I was very impressed. We need more people doing this, education people are real progressive ideals.

Btw, anyone calling what she was saying 'rightwing' might have lost their way and ended up on the wrong board??
