Warren, Cordray, does not really matter, where the Republican road-block is concerned.
The President is GOING TO HAVE TO FIGHT for this nominee, NO MATTER WHAT.
And leaving the palace intrigue behind...
What if the President had held a national press conference/televised speech, where he introduces the Nominee for the head of the CFPB, in the current case Cordray...
And after giving the obligatory introduction and history of said nominee, he PIVOTS, and tells the nation/voters this...
Look this is gonna be a tough fight. The Republican members of congress have been trying their damndest to prevent this agency, designed to protect the American People from unfair business practices, con-men, hucksters, and rip-offs, from coming into being.
I'm sorry, but it used to be that in this country, the business of business, was NOT just to make a good profit for themselves and their investors, but also to put out one of the best products in the world. One that not only Americans would buy, but the rest of the world would buy. That's why for many, many decades, we were the envy of the world.
The prosperity of American Businesses used to equate to the prosperity of the American People. Maytag, Zenith, General Motors... all had excellent products, that made excellent profits, and had excellent workers... and most everybody would profit... owners, investors, and workers alike. It was the American Dream...
Now... we are told... that having an agency of the Federal Government that makes sure that our own citizens are clear on the loans they take, the contracts they sign, the products they buy, is somehow anathema to American Business???
Well I don't want to believe that. I do not believe that... for that begs the question... why would this agency be any type of bother or threat to American Business?
If all is good, fair, and straight forward with American Business, bothered as it is by even the CONCEPT, let alone the reality of this agency...
THEY should be the ones welcoming this agency with open arms. They should be willing to say... "We make a good product, stand %100 behind it, will gladly refund those unsatisfied, and will NOT engage in gimmicks in order to wring out every last penny of possible profit. We will be honest, we will be excellent... WE will even answer the phones when you call customer service.
In short, I ask... no in fact, in this time of national crisis I invite, American Business to live up to the best periods of our common history. I ask all of us to to work together for the profit of ALL. And to those who still doubt... YOU can make this Agency disappear, by making it unnecessary.
Good Night.
