Lazy newspapers! Has anyone noticed how they always use

identical shots of returning servicemen being greeted by a young child (usually a daughter) and how in mid-July there is ALWAYS the mandatory shot of African-american children being cooled off by water from a fire hydrant or some such. Year after year. Two of the newsrags in our state had the latter picture just today. Has anyone else noticed such unimaginative photojournalism?

1. Everyone is On Vacation and They're Running the Paper on Autopilot

Those are what the layout program generates as filler when the regular contributions don't show up.

3. never saw a picture of a black kid

playing in NYC or Chicago streets with an open fire hydrant in July.

O.K. maybe I have seen it over and over.

5. I thought the same thing when I was looking at Monday's USA Today.

6. Recycled news perhaps on recycled paper. Other images

are also cliches. Pamplona bulls and foolish Spaniards. See this every year. Not news. It's like reporting about Munich's Oktoberfest that Germans like beer.
