Isn't It Time Progressives Got Serious About Cleaning The House Of Fake Dems?
Back in '06 Move-on had me making calls for people like Schuler. Pig in a poke. Time for the faux's to go.

“Five Democrats, including Reps. Jim Cooper (Tenn.), Health Shuler (N.C.) and Dan Boren (Okla.), sided with Republicans in passing the measure. Nine Republicans opposed the bill, including Tea Party favorite and GOP presidential candidate Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.). In a statement issued after the vote, Bachmann said the bill "does not go far enough" and should have included provisions to defund health care reform.”

3. After 20 years of infiltration, how do we separate the Koch Bros DLC Dem Party from the Dem Party?
Koch Bros/DLC has been harbored within the Dem Party all this time,

infiltrating the party and influencing it -- its members, its agenda --

its candidates -- even its presidential candidates!

Where does the Koch Bros DLC party begin and end?

What's left of the Democratic Party?

Granted -- I'm with you on targeting Koch Bros/DLC Dems and "New Dems" and

"Third Way" Dems -- are they going to identify themselves?

We could say any Dem taking corporate money should go -- ?

4. I almost think it would be easier to surrender the party to them
Let THEM own the shit they have shoveled in...and give us something along the lines of a populist party...I know it won't happen, but a gal can dream.

7. Agree -- but more here need to be thinking and talking about that ... I also
Edited on Wed Jul-20-11 12:04 AM by defendandprotect
thought, even if only the name is left -- we can take that and walk away

with it --

Maybe add "labor" and "women" in the middle of it! :)

And invite those we trust to come along -- but ....

What I'm shocked at is that many Dems I really like -- like Kucinich and

Feingold -- Whitehouse -- many others -- are NOT walking away from this party?

I don't get it?

Especially with so many Americans suffering mainly just for the lack of

MEDICARE FOR ALL!!

Obama could simply open it for 55 year olds -- and then continue down the age groups!!

Rather, it's a threat to them and has to be destroyed, imo -- !!

Ugh!

13. Hey, listen up! I have a seriously great idea for a THIRD PARTY!!!
I'm thinking we could call it the Democratic Party. Like as in democracy, you know?

It would support labor and working people, protect social security and Medicare, and tax the rich at a real high tax rate so that they might not be able to use their money to control the government. A party of, by and for people, and not for corporations. Something really new and unique.

Let's do it. Let's start a third party and call it the Democratic Party. We have nothing to lose at this point. All we have now are the Republicans and the Third Way, neither of which does much good for people.

This guy here has some really great ideas for the principles of our new third party, too, I think:

The right to a useful and remunerative job in the industries or shops or farms or mines of the nation;

The right to earn enough to provide adequate food and clothing and recreation;

The right of every farmer to raise and sell his products at a return which will give him and his family a decent living;

The right of every businessman, large and small, to trade in an atmosphere of freedom from unfair competition and domination by monopolies at home or abroad;

The right of every family to a decent home;

The right to adequate medical care and the opportunity to achieve and enjoy good health;

The right to adequate protection from the economic fears of old age, sickness, accident, and unemployment;

The right to a good education.

"All of these rights," the president continued, "spell security."

And after this war is won we must be prepared to move forward, in the implementation of these rights, to new goals of human happiness and well-being.

America's own rightful place in the world depends in large part upon how fully these and similar rights have been carried into practice for all our citizens.

For unless there is security here at home there cannot be lasting peace in the world.

FDR

11. If you don't think Republicans run as Dems - just look at the Wisconsin primaries that just occured
Republicans run as Dems quite often I think. at some point progressives are going to have to leave the Democratic party i think.

12. They absolutely do. There's a business group in FL that grooms future pro-business
politicians. They study the districts in which they want to run their mouthpieces, and if the district leans Left they teach them how to run as a Dem, if it leans Right they train the candidate to run as a repug. The candidate's only true ideology is that of the pro corporate Capitalist; everything else is just targeted marketing.

It's naive for anyone to think that this hasn't been occurring everywhere for decades now.

14. The 'small tent' strategy is a loser, IMO.
We won't have a third of either the House or Senate.
