I haven't seen him post here in quite some time (2 years or so?) but yes, Carlos was a DUer. I followed his blog after he left, he became quite the advocate for people for had been intimidated by the police not to take pictures/video in public spaces. He was himself arrested and harassed mercilessly for an incident down in Miami a few years back.
