The Gang-Bang of six.
The double-penetration of America. We're fucked and discarded, splooge-rags of the wealthy. Don't let this "deal" pass! Please. Stop! Don't! Stop!

1. It is The Only Way to Avoid Default. We Have No Other Options
I know it sucks, but we haven't got the votes to get a better deal than this.
We need the debt limit increase, AND THERE IS NO OTHER WAY TO GET IT THROUGH THE HOUSE!

6. The Situation Reminds Me More Of This

The Republicans are practicing the Snidely Whipsnade style of politics.

People here keep saying he should "fight" them. How?????
He can refuse to make a deal, but then the economy gets destroyed,
along with all our favorite social programs (since the government
could no longer fund them). Even Social Security and Medicare would
be doomed, since their funds are invested in T-bills!

8. No, he can refuse to make a deal and then use his Constitutional powers as President.
He gave an oath to protect the country. He doesn't need Boner to sign of on it. He doesn't need anyone to tell him anything. Yet, he capitulates, he waffles, he prevaricates. Fuck it, Mr. President. Tell Boehner and Cantor and McConnell to piss up a rope...you're looking out for the citizens of this great nation. Let THEM explain why they disagree.

13. There is the Small Matter of our Utterly Partisan Supreme Court…
…which we all know would rush out an emergency ruling to stop him from doing it.

15. You mean our corporately-owned court?
Edited on Fri Jul-22-11 12:51 AM by Marr
The one owned by interests that would lose more than anyone in a default, and clearly want the debt limit increased? That one?

It's not a real threat anyway. They may do some temporary extension and punt the issue for a month or two, but there is zero chance the country will be allowed to default. Zero.

5. Then cut the legislature out and use the fourteenth amendment
We are required as a nation not to default on our loans. president Clinton has already said he would use that and President Obama should listen to him.

10. And how long would that take? Next Tuesday?
Or next session, a year from now? We'll default in two weeks. Do what has to be done.

It is always easier to do it now and apologize later instead of hoping for approval from those who disapprove of you.

Bring it on.

which was about the time it took the Republicans' attorneys to make their way to the courthouse.

16. Bullshit. The fact is, the people who really run the GOP want default even less than you do.
They're bluffing.

17. The Teabaggers Do, And They Seem to be Pulling the Strings At the Moment
We can assume the Koch brothers are shorting Treasuries.

Wall Street as a whole may not agree, but who controls the likes of Eric Cantor?

18. The GOP is in a bind, but the real power, as always, lies with the money people.
The only thing the teabag crowd is "in charge" of is their army of Rascal-ridin' Jesus freaks.
