5. Thanks for that. As an 'elder' who retired after a very long working career and then got M.S. -
I'm using every link I can find.

These politicians will never be able to wrap their greedy little minds around how difficult it is to live on a fixed income while the costs of just about everything else in the world continue to rise.

Of course, even dear husband, still working, hasn't had a raise in 4 years but we scramble to cover the annual increases in cost of employer healthcare. So even those working are losing money left and right.

Sigh.........

Scroll down and you can either sign a petition or send a message to congress -- or both!

8. SEIU has a link to ask congress critters to protect Medicaid
Edited on Wed Jul-20-11 09:35 PM by csziggy
Tell Congress: "Make the deal, and make sure it's balanced."

Congress has had six months to address our nation’s deficit and yet extremist members of the Republican party are still stalling, refusing to end tax giveaways to Big Oil and millionaires. Every day lost to political posturing is another day that endangers Social Security checks for seniors, pay checks for service men and women and our national financial security.

Working families cannot afford any deal on the debt ceiling or budget would take away healthcare for millions of seniors, people with disabilities, and children and result in the loss of more than one million jobs. That means we cannot accept cuts to Medicaid, which would turn seniors out of nursing homes, add working women and men to the unemployment line and throw more families into poverty.

Tell your U.S. Representative that it’s time to step up the plate to protect Medicaid and do the job voters elected them into vote to do. Send an email to your U.S. Representative by entering your contact information on the right. →

They called me the other day and connected my with my Senator's DC office. I used that as a chance to ask SEnator Bill Nelson to protect not just Medicaid, but Social Security and all social network programs. I asked him to get rid of the Bush tax cuts and to take a look at the Progressive budget.
