Remember back when Tweety asked Bachmann if she was |
|
hypnotized, or something like that? She had that faraway look in her eyes, didn't respond to his questions but kept repeating the same talking point over and over? I wonder if that was one of those times she was on meds for these migraines. Also, I am not in any way shape or form ragging on her for these god-awful attacks.
I had them once during a pregnancy and thankfully after the child was born they went away. However, anyone running for President has no business doing so with such a debilitating medical condition. An important foreign leader is coming to the US to discuss important matters and you're either too drugged or in pain to function. She needs to bow out, gracefully I'm sure.

When you have a real Migraine, you're not looking hypnotized. You can't even sit up. You're feel as if you're about to vomit. Light hurts. Sound hurts.
That episode with Tweety was the real Michele. If she'd had a migraine, she wouldn't have been able to stay on set, let alone repeat her talking points.

7. if the migraine were untreated, yes; however, the side effects of some migraine meds... |
|
... could have some effect like this. i didn't see the episode, but certainly too much narcotic can make you drowsy and detached.
as for not directly responding to questions and simply repeating prepared soundbites, well, that's the type of insanity that's become normal for all politicians.

3. Have been plagued with migraines since middle school, when one comes on |
|
I am so dizzy and nauseous that it's impossible to function. I can't sit up, much less walk around and be around lights, sounds or people of any kind. Without meds I have to hang my head over the bed for hours with an ice pack on the back of neck to get any kind of relief. No lights, no sound of any kind. The room needs to be as cold as possible. With meds it's still pretty bad but the duration and intensity is much less and I can function within a few hours. Mine came so often that eventually the doctor put me on daily medication which has pretty much cut them out completely. If I stop taking the medication they come back, unfortunately.

4. Relpax, Imitrex or Cambria |
|
Miracle drugs. The second you feel a migraine coming on, take one. It stops 'em before they start.

5. Not relpax or imitrex for me... |

even injections didn't work. Those drugs don't work for many people I know w/migraines.

10. My husband just said something really smart (as he tends to do) |
|
Edited on Wed Jul-20-11 03:08 PM by calimary
I'm paraphrasing - "whaddya think China's gonna do if they get wind of the President forced to take to her bed for who knows how many hourswith a migraine, with the lights out and the door shut? THAT'S when they're gonna attack."
Yeah, just what we want in a president, 'eh?
My husband also said - "I wonder why she takes pills. Can't she just pray the headache away like they do with 'the gay'?" DAMN he's good!

Even if no one knows she's having a migraine attack, what if something serious happens when she's down? If you've ever had a serious migraine, you know...it's totally incapacitating. I rarely get them...maybe once or twice a year, in part because my wife has taught me well; I know my triggers (I'm a caffeine addict, and certain types of beer do it, too) and I always carry Relpax and/or Cambia, so when I feel it coming on, I can divert it. But when one hits hard, as Michele seems to say happens to her often, I'm out for a couple of hours. Can't move, can't do anything. Do you really want the President incapacitated in a dark room when a national emergency hits?

He's a keeper for sure. So far he's lasted me about 37 years including the time we were just friends.
He's got brothers but I kinda think I got the best one.
He HAS TO be a saint. After all, he puts up with me!

17. I have a vascular type |
|
That used to lay me low. I'd scramble home for as much asprin as I could hold down, stay in the dark and writhe. Imitrex is drug of the Gods for my type. I never knew when one might strike although I learned my triggers. I'll bet signs of cardivascular disease like Renauds (sp) could clamp down the brains vessels. Hmmmm, what's b/p med that dialates vessels? Ya poke a pin into the capsule and put it under your tongue? Enderal? My SOL took a daily med called Topamax. I never understood how it worked. I thought it was antidepressant or antianxiety cuz her headaches started from other Rx use.
I think my DU friends up thread had a simple misunderstanding.
There are different types. Typical and Atypical. Any extreme launched mine.
I've seen some brands of psychology that used phrases like "choosing to migraine", as if you do behaviors that bring it on. I'm sure he means stressing yourself up. I could never help it.
