Viet Dinh, author of Patriot Act on News Corp Board of Directors.
Let's look at who is on the News Corp Board of Directors.

Viet Dinh, chief architect of the USA Patriot Act; assistant to Michael Chertoff

Link

Viet Dinh is thriving after high-profile Bush administration stint, October 12, 2009

.....

With the help of NBC News and Rupert Murdoch’s South China Morning Post, (Dinh's sister) was released from a Hong Kong detention camp in 1993.

.....

After his clerkships, Dinh worked with future Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff as associate special counsel to the Senate committee investigating President Bill Clinton’s Whitewater dealings. From there, just three years out of law school, he went to Georgetown, where he was teaching corporate and constitutional law when another president decided he wanted the tireless Dinh on his side.

In May 2001, Bush appointed Dinh to be an assistant attorney general — the highest government position a Vietnamese-American had held up to that point — and tasked him with overseeing the Justice Department’s Office of Legal Policy.

After 19 Muslim extremists hijacked four American commercial flights and altered the course of U.S. history, Dinh worked behind the scenes as the chief architect of the Patriot Act and a bevy of other laws and policies that have drawn either fire or applause, depending on one’s position on the political spectrum.

.....

Yes, the Patriot Act.

'The Patriot Act Is Your Friend', February 24, 2004

There are more interesting names on the list of News Corp board members:

In particular is Joel Klein.

Joel Klein joined News Corporation in January this year as executive vice president in the office of the chairman and chief executive of the company's new education unit Photo: GETTY

.....

As New York City education chancellor for nine years, the 64-year-old proved combative in his dealings with principals and teachers as he ripped up curriculums and criticised schools.

.....

As the person parachuted in by Murdoch to ensure that News International’s reputation is maintained worldwide the trained lawyer possible faces his biggest challenge to date.

Yesterday, Murdoch said he had appointed Mr Klein to "provide important oversight and guidance" as his company "fully cooperate with the police in all investigations" into the phone hacking scandal.

He joined News Corporation in January this year as executive vice president in the office of the chairman and chief executive of the company’s new education unit.
He is a senior adviser to Murdoch .... Klein was once rumoured to be one of Barack Obama’s choices for Secretary of Education.

Natalie Bancroft:

She is a member of the Bancroft family, which controlled the Dow Jones media empire for decades.<1>..... She was appointed to the board of News Corporation at the age of 27, following News Corporation's acquisition of Dow Jones.<1><2><3><4><5><6> She lives in New York, New York.<1>

José María Aznar, former President of Spain and one of George W. Bush's BFFs in the runup to the Iraq invasion

1. IMHO, writing the Patriot Act was an act of treason and the good Mr. Dinh
needs his citizenship revoked and to be deported. Let the Communists he so feared in his old country have at him. We don't need fascists of his sort here.

5. Considering our current
situation, he was a either a preemptive visionary or a playbook reader preparing the MIC for the potential lash-back from the masses after the royal scam went full throttle.

How useful to have an "act" so fascistic in nature and intent that the corporatist takeover can proceed, no matter what happens or who protests or fights it. Anybody can be labeled a "terrorist" now and due process is a thing of the past in that sense.

Don't like the Birchers or the Kochs, but sometimes even their nutjobs can notice something's not right.
Oh, and Murdoch's daughter once was wed to a guy who worked for the current crop of Rothschilds.

Edited on Wed Jul-20-11 11:39 PM by seafan
That is Viet Dinh's favorite quote. Surreal.

Viet Dinh

Age: 41
Born: Saigon, Vietnam

Job: Founder, D.C.-based legal strategy company Bancroft Associates PLLC; professor, Georgetown University Law Center

Education: bachelor’s degree in government and economics, Harvard College, 1990; law degree, Harvard University, 1993
Spouse: Jennifer
Children: Alexander, 2, William, 7 months
Car: Mercedes-Benz V-12 S600
Favorite local team: Washington Redskins

Favorite quote: “Success is the ability to go from one failure to another without a loss of enthusiasm.” — Winston Churchill

Crikey.

For someone not born in America, who has since enjoyed the best of what America has to offer, Viet Dinh's callously crafted Patriot Act and his rigid support for Bush's inhumane policies toward prisoners of illegal wars and invasions are his "contributions" to America.

This is someone who should be serving time.

24. To those who know nothing else, war must be the only answer .
Doesn't matter if he's a law professor, an Olin research professor, he's still a traitor.

In addition to writing for Sandra Day Can'tretire, the young BFEE turd clerked for Judge Laurence H. Silberman of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit and of October Surprise infamy.

Thanks for the heads-up, seafan. This is the geeky tip of the iceberg sinking the Constitution.

Edited on Fri Jul-22-11 04:08 PM by KamaAina
they're a powerful venture capital firm with their tentacles in many, many of the tech firms here in Silicon Valley, nearly all of which were once VC-funded startups. That would include such news sources as Google and Yahoo!

They and other VC firms have given rise to the use of "Sand Hill Road", along which most of them are located in Palo Alto, as a cognomen for venture finance similar to "Wall Street".
