Cantor's Wealthy Backers: Ask Him To 'RAISE Their Taxes'
July 20, 2011 12:35 PM
Cantor’s wealthy backers: raise our taxes
By Steve Benen

..................

Adding an unusual twist to the political maneuvering, GOP aides say that wealthy donors have approached Cantor to push tax increases. <…>

A few wealthy donors have called Cantor to tell him they wouldn’t mind if their taxes are raised. During two closed meetings this week — one with vote-counting lawmakers, and another with the entire conference — Cantor told colleagues that some well-heeled givers have told them they’re willing to pay more taxes. Cantor, according to an aide, has responded that House Republicans aren’t standing up for the wealthy, but rather for the middle class, who want to see their taxes stay low.

2. We're supposed to believe that jerk?
I don't know which smirk I hate the most...the one from Cantor or McConnell.

I wish Obama could pull one of his slick moves and pull the rug out from under both! Maybe we wouldn't see those hateful smirks so often.

4. Cantor is a disgrace and a treasonous bastard.
Also, possibly a deluded maniac. Or a liar. Whichever.

6. Cantor told his Republican colleagues this?
Pardon me, but I call bullshit. Without the names of those "well-heeled" donors, I don't believe a word of it. Cantor's self-serving rebuttal to his donors that he's standing up for the middle class is such a lie, that anyone who comes in contact with it should denounce it immediately, or just get the fuck out of the game.

Verdict: Pants on fire.

10. They know they have been exposed as the rich loving cult they are during these
debt negotiations. And 80% of Americans want to see taxes increased.
