The Stifling States of America
Source: AccuWeathercom

Another sweltering heat wave is gripping a large part of the U.S., with at least 17 states hitting the 100-degree mark Tuesday and more than 40 surpassing 90°. While it's already hot on the East Coast, the worst is on its way.

Areas along the Northeast's heavily-populated Interstate 95 corridor will have highs near or higher than 100° by the end of the week as the steamy air spreads eastward from the Plains.

What is so impressive about this heat wave is the humidity that is accompanying it. Even places such as Minneapolis, Minn., have had AccuWeather.com RealFeel® temperatures rising near 120°!

Minneapolis set an all-time record Tuesday when the dew point temperature, which provides an indication of how humid the air is, reached 82°.

What's truly shocking? This is the lead story on Drudge at the moment!

I guess Matty's air conditioning must have broken down...

2. I've been putting a lawn sprinkler out for the critters
the past three days. We have squirrels (including a white one), rabbits, crows, jays, sparrows, and more visiting our yard for the food we put out. The sprinkler, which I run during the hottest part of the afternoon, has been a big hit. The squirrels are carrying their peanuts in the shell over and sitting under the sprinkler to eat them. All the birds keep flying through the spray, and sometimes sitting in it, fluffing their feathers and flapping their wings.

It's terribly hot out there for everyone.

3. Good for you!
Homo sapiens have wreaked this. I'm glad to see another human being doing something to ameliorate the situation. :-)

4. I wish there were efficient methods for removing water from the air
if so Texas would never face another drought.
