Bachmann gets a doctor's note

Congressional doctor explains Bachmann migraines

(CNN) – Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann released a letter from her physician Wednesday to further explain her migraine headaches. It was first revealed she suffers from migraines Tuesday.

The Attending Physician of the United States Congress, Dr. Brian Monahan, said the Minnesota Congresswoman is in "overall in good general health."

"Your migraines occur infrequently and have known trigger factors of which you are aware and know how to avoid," Dr. Monahan wrote.

The doctor noted evaluations have included "detailed labwork and brain scans all of which are normal." She is prescribed sumatriptan and odansetron to control the migraines on an as-needed basis, Dr. Monahan wrote. He said she does not take daily medications to manage the headaches.

I'm sure the last thing a crackhead wants is to be publicly associated with MB.

3. Sorry, I'm not buying it. I want to see her hospital records, as well as the original dr's note.
I can't believe that this woman is even news. She walks along the border of sanity, and there are people who will vote for her and her lunatic bullshit.

I'm all for a woman president, and I can think of a lot of women who would make great presidents, but not this one. She makes Palin seem relatively sane.

I'm sorry that anyone has migraines, but this seems like the least of her problems when it comes to being qualified to run a lemonade stand, let alone this country.

for her migraines -- not the internist who wrote the letter.

"You have not needed medical attention FROM ME regarding your migraines . . ."

That leaves the door wide open. Who else is she seeing? And her health is only "good" not "very good" or "excellent." What else is wrong with her?

Edited on Wed Jul-20-11 07:55 PM by pnwmom
Notice he is leaving the door open to her getting medical attention from other doctors for this condition. This is a giant loophole, IMHO.

Also, note that she is in "good" general health -- not "excellent" or even "very good." I bet she has other conditions, as well.

15. I had a friend who was closeted, even to himself, and he suffered migranes.
His migranes were so bad he could not work. Years later I ran into him on the street and he looked great, was out of the closet, in a great relationship and working. Something tells me there is big repression in Bachmann's marriage and that is the stressor that is giving her headaches because stress causes migranes. Just a total guess on my part. But it could be true.

23. The medication is Ondansetron
Michelle's "doctor" couldn't spell it correctly.

It is indicated for nausea and vomiting caused by chemotherapy. Using it for migraines is considered "off label use." Do we want our President to take meds when it is unapproved, although it is commonly used for various conditions involving nausea and vomiting.

I suspect that a Bachmann staffer came down and asked for the letter and the doc obliged. That's what happens.

26. That's bullpuckey
I had a migraine today. I get them infrequently, but it required me to take a day off of work. My job is nowhere near as stressful as being a President, or even a Congresswoman, would be. I know that I couldn't hack it. Seriously, even if she was a liberal Dem, I'd be questioning if she could handle the job with a history of migraines.

34. Fioricet might be used as a rescue med, if an abortive fails, or you've
maxed out on your 24 hour dose. And there are preventive meds, too. Fioricet is a combination of Tylenol, caffeine, and a barbiturate.

much more than Vicodin but I developed an allergy to Darvocet and Darvon before it was taken off the market. My own experience with it is what made me remember it was taken off the market.
