A simple proposal and a question for democrats |
|
No, not about the debt reduction farse being dumped on an ignorant population like so many bombs reaking fear and terror on the innocent. About a priority... no.... a START... a new beginning after the latest neo-fascist threat has passed. A simple proposal for the new congress that will meet in January 2012. Oh, I don't hold out any great or even not so great hopes for a congress that will be filled with nazis in suits and the wealthy and ignorant and I wouldn't expect them to take this proposal serioiusly.
However, I propose that the MOST important thing they could do is fix the political system in the US. Make it fair and based on IDEAS and not MONEY. Remove ALL - that's right - ALL private money from campaigns. I know it would have no shot and that speaks volumes about our leaders. It really tells you all you need to know.
How many democrats in congress would support this proposal? Would the President support it? I'll hang up and listen.

1. I've said for years that we should go with full public campaign financing ... |
|
...with NO opt-out provision and NO option for supplementing with private monies. Each candidate would be given a set budget to use for campaigning, and it would be up to the candidate to make the best and wisest use of that money to get his or her message out to the voting public.
