I see the term "useless eater" used freely right here on DU. |
|
Edited on Wed Jul-20-11 08:48 PM by Stinky The Clown
In the context it is used, it could apply to me and to people close to me whom I love dearly.
Google it up some time. There are some pretty scary websites discussing it.
On edit: some have completely misinterpreted this thread. Everything above this edit is unchanged. My intent was not to suggest any DUer who used the term was using it in reference to me or any group of people. They were citing the term as it was being used by others, generally those on the extreme right. I had never heard the term before and therefore googled it. I was appalled at what I found.

10. Go to DU's advanced (members only) search and enter the term in the slot. Select "Big Forums" |
|
You will get 98 hits.
This thread is at the top of that list, owing to the fact it is the newest.

21. It is a "classic", seems I first heard it from Simpson maybe when he was in the Senate |
|
This is long what this sort has thought of the American people.
This is what kind of minds we are up against. The struggle is much nastier than many can admit and this is the worldview that invents their policies. There is no compromising with that kind of disdain, it is time to wake up.

6. A poster who uses that term is being sarcastic. They're describing how the elite |
|
see us "little people" - as "useless eaters". It's not intended as an aside to average people and the poster/author is just as likely to be including him- or herself in that group.

I *think* you've jumped to a conclusion. I have seen the term used here. I have not seen the term used here by anyone to describe anyone and any group of people.

19. As senator, he was pro-abortion and a member of ZPG (Zero Population Growth) |
|
so it's very possible he came up with the term.
