been verbally abused by anyone who didn't understand why you called a hurricane "beautiful"?
I have.
I guess most people don't understand why they're beautiful. I mean, take mankind and his buildings out of the equation, and they really are beautiful. A truly awesome sight.

:D Nature is magnificent - beautiful, destructive and random. They're even more beautiful when they're away from land. Let's hope Dora stays away.

4. Actually, let's hope Dora heads straight across Mexico into the Gulf... |
|
Makes a hard left and heads into Texas where it can do some good.
Not a damned thing wrong with a good, strong, soaking storm.

7. She's actually moving NW this morning |
|
I don't think Mexico can handle a Cat4 hurricane just to give Texas badly needed rain.

3. I believe that, nautically, hurricanes are referred to as "perfect" as in |
|
"She's brewing up a perfect storm, Captain."

the wall into the eye, circling and popping out at the top.
Did this in a weather squadron flying out of Guam in the late 1960s. We would make two "fixes", one at midnight, the other at 6 AM after loitering in the vicinity for those 6 hours.
The 6 AM was awesome. Pop out of the storm into a clear sky and look down at what we just left. It was like today's satellite photo, except close up and personal.
Edited to add: We flew WC 121 aircraft.
