I wonder...why isn't it clear to all us that Obama is out there fighting hard
for our cherished Democratic ideals and values? Why isn't is clear to all of us, Democrats, that he is obviously battling for us and that he has our best interests at heart?

Why does it seem like all who are the unquestioning supporters of Obama try and claim they we just don't understand his intricate and devious Macheavellian strategies or that he is just playing some kind of 3 dimensional chess that we just don't understand?

What is it that he does that should inspire our confidence that he is a Democrat's Democrat? Why should we feel confident that he has our backs like we have been asked to have his because this is a two way street?

Why is it that we are made to feel like children being told that we just need to be patient and wait for it, that he has everything under control? You know, the old "chill out, I've got this" routine. I'm not sure if he really does "got this".

I would really like to serve under a general that I don't have to keep checking the color of his uniform.

2. Obama isn't fighting hard , he's not fighting at all.
In the 35 years or so that have been voting I have never had a bigger political disappointment. I made the mistake of believing that he wasn't just another empty suit. I won't make that mistake again and I will never vote for anyone that I feel hasn't my vote.

19. But we get told that he actually is fighting hard, that we must be patient,
that we are just not able to understand his intricate strategy.

8. Or is it all the closed doors to the negotiations and
we don't get to see it until it is up for votes.

I thought the deal he negotiated back in December was a piece of garbage.
I thought the way he handled the HCR was very weak.
Let's just say I would not let him negotiate a contract for me if I was in business.

Now that has nothing to do with FDL or any other media, that is what happened.

21. You would not let him negotiate a contract for you?
Why? He's a great negotiator, it's just hart to tell which side he works for sometimes.

4. I flip back and forth but mostly supportive
I think the loss of a public option sucked the wind out of my sails, out of my lungs in fact. Still shocked how that didn't work out. That and the climate crisis that's unaddressed for the most part are major disappointments for me. I like the man - can't help it. I know he's got a lot on his plate and that he's very hard working and doing what he thinks is the right thing. For that and because I need to be optimistic to live thru this, I am hanging in there.

9. I am thinking many generals also have camouflage uniforms
so one can't always see in what direction he or she is moving....

15. He's a good politician, but it's only about his survival!
He has tackled some big issues, but his method is to compromise our standards immediately, and work down from there. Any agreement is considered a victory by his administration, and leadership is something the rest of us can worry about.

16. It is not clear to anyone because he is not fighting the least little bit
He appears to have more in common with the tea baggers than with us anymore. Of course, we must exclude the 8-dimension chess theorists.

He is getting a enormous amount of money now. I don't believe it is coming from Democrats. I think it is coming from Billionaires like Koch, Scalia, DeVos, and others. He might FEEL rich right now, but this "sum" is a non-retirement buy-off for the rest of us. He has been given a dollar for every ten thousand he will steal from the sick and elderly. Norquist and Rove have bought him CHEAP in the long run.

18. How in hell is he fighting for our "Democratic ideals and values"
Single payer, compassion and programs for the poor, an untouchable Social Security System, stopping the wars, regulation of business (and other predators), and it goes on and on.

20. Obama's 2008 campaign was inspirational, he lead us to believe that he would be a champion
for us and we were willing to get behind him and work hard to get him elected. Except for his most admiring supporters and fans, his presidency has not been this way for most of the rest of us. I'm sure that most of us wish that we would be inspired by Obama and know that he is looking out for our best interests.

For those of us who are the simple rank and file Democrats who worked for him to get elected, each week it is a depressing feeling of what will it be now? What will be compromised this week and sacrificed at the altar of bipartisanship that whittles away at our social program while giving more money and tax breaks to the wealthy and big business?

We should never have to be told or reminded that Obama is a Democrat. We should absolutely know he is a Democrat by his actions and decisions. We should have the hope which his campaign promised instead of the unrelenting despair as we are killed by a thousand cuts.
