WaPo says Norquist would let Bush's tax cuts expire.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/out-from-under-the-anti-tax-pledge/2011/07/20/gIQAoudbQI_story.html

WITH A HANDFUL of exceptions, every Republican member of Congress has signed a pledge against increasing taxes. Would allowing the Bush tax cuts to expire as scheduled in 2012 violate this vow? We posed this question to Grover Norquist, its author and enforcer, and his answer was both surprising and encouraging: No.

In other words, according to Mr. Norquist’s interpretation of the Americans for Tax Reform pledge, lawmakers have the technical leeway to bring in as much as $4 trillion in new tax revenue — the cost of extending President George W. Bush’s tax cuts for another decade — without being accused of breaking their promise. “Not continuing a tax cut is not technically a tax increase,” Mr. Norquist told us. So it doesn’t violate the pledge? “We wouldn’t hold it that way,” he said.

My head just exploded a little bit.

4. Surprises me, too.
Maybe the GRAND DEAL is set and it's too late to be influenced by a charade of reasonableness.

10. The 'gang of six' proposal lowers the top tax rate below the Bush rate.
Is the idea to pass the gang of six plan and say 'Hey we let the Bush tax cuts expire'?

13. If not that....
....then something like it.

The day the money-hoarders pay an actual, net dime more than they do today - w/o offsets - is the day I will feel something different flow through me.

Not until.

he was hounded by pundits that he would dare to hold signatories to his pledge hostage in this debt/deficit issue.

Something changed. What was it?

15. I recall him or his ilk arguing that any expiration of a tax break...
...was indeed "an increase". And that defense spending that didn't rise as quickly as under a different scheme was a "cut".

18. That is ONLY because there is a NEW & IMPROVED Tax Cut for the RICH..
..on the table from the Gang of Six,
only the NEW ONE doesn't expire.

I will take this statement from Norquist to mean that the Gang of Six Plan is a Done Deal.
Our Politicians are simply busy putting more lipstick on the PIG
before they shove it down the throats of the Lower 98%.

Cherish your memories, SUCKERS!
because we're TAKING everything else!
Hahahahahahaha!
