11-Dimensional End Game - "All cuts," the aide said. "Maybe revenues some time in the future."
11-Dimensional End Game
There you go.

A Congressional aide briefed on ongoing negotiations between House Speaker John Boehner and President Obama says the two principals may be nearing a "grand bargain" on to raise the debt limit which would contain large, set-in-stone spending cuts but only the possibility of future revenue increases.

"All cuts," the aide said. "Maybe revenues some time in the future."

1. Well, that's good to know - simplifies things somewhat, if true.

5. We are f*cked, and totally so,
but I figured that out a long time ago - back when the public option disappeared without a whimper and the Little Chimp's tax cuts for billionaires were reenacted.

10. IF that is true...
...emphasis on IF... then Obama and anyone who votes for it has lost my vote permanently.

Seriously. If the above is true, and if that is what they pass, then we need a national campaign to oust the whole lot of them. The scary talk about "But then you would have Republicans in control" is not so scary, when you consider the fact that the Republicans already are in control, even though we have the Presidency and the Senate.

Our political system is absolutely corrupt. You cannot reconstitute a rotten apple, you need to throw it on the compost heap and get yourself a new apple.

I will pledge to join a national campaign for ALL of us aggrieved citizens, whether independents, middle of the roaders, liberals, progressives, leftists, marxists, conservatives, right wingers, or wild eyed tea partiers -- for ALL of us to write in "None of the above" for all national offices. If this Congress and Administration won't do what a clear majority of the people want -- i.e.: tax the rich, leave the social programs alone, and get out of the wars that are breaking our backs and draining our treasury -- then they can all go to hell.

11. I hope that this is only a rumor, but I have to admit to being pessimistic if prior
compromises are any indication.

I have the same anticipation as if I was scheduled for a colonoscopy and they weren't going to sedate me.

IF....this turns out to be true, that's it for me. The line in the sand, the last straw and any other cliches that come to mind will indeed apply.

PLEASE let this be mere rumors at their worst and not the screwing of the people who really need all of the programs that will be cut.

14. I believe that the numbers in the House of Representatives will
move sharply toward the Democratic side in the 2012 election. If that happens, the cuts can be restored. If it doesn't happen, God help us all.

17. "Restoring" would require new legislation that Republicans can block in the Senate
Unless the Dems have 60 votes in the Senate which is highly unlikely.

Bottom line, if the cuts are made now, they are essentially permanent.

21. I've read a number of your OPS and just about always agree with you.
However, on this point I somewhat disagree. I believe that this year will prove to be the high-water count of Republicans in Congress. Each subsequent election should lean Democratic. Just call me an optimist.

If we hold out now, the Republicans won't blink because they are too dumb and mean to realize the destruction they are causing. Anyway you look at it, it's a dangerous mess for us all.

27. I'm afraid that Dems will be so disillusioned (again) that they won't show up to vote
which is why it's critical that we have a strong primary challenger. People need to be given someone to vote FOR.

15. So the prez really does prefer Reagan to FDR, HST, LBJ
if this is true I won't be voting for him. If he can't even hold back the worst of the repukes' assaults, despite the fact aht 80% of Americans want taxes raised on the rich, then there is nothing to vote for.

and we'll fuck 'em over really good again a little later." BHO seems to be giving the far-right the wet dream of a lifetime. :patriot:

29. Of course....
First you accept that there is a real crisis and not a manufactured one, then you start out the negotiations by giving away the crown jewels and taking your only real weapon off the table. Then you surrender, not even at the last moment, after repeatedly blinking.
