1. Looks like the hardest hit drought areas |
|
Are pretty much the same places where all the religious wacko climate change deniers live.
Perhaps god is trying to tell you assholes something?

that I went golfing the other day and I broke 3 tees on the first hole just trying to get it into the ground.

3. here in eastern Iowa it is like a rock also |
|
We have a pattern here anymore where it rains like a cow pissing on a flat rock in April, May and June but the it seems to stop dead on or about July 1st and doesn't rain again until September. Since we are nearly a monoculture of corn, we all wait and worry whether or not the ears will develop normally.

Arrogant southern sinners.
It makes about as much sense as Creationism, so I'll go with it.

6. Lost a dog in a crack in my yard! |
|
HE was hiding in the trunk of the Cadillac that fell in yesterday! LOL
I should be thankful, I guess, as the map shows me to be abnormally dry instead of moderate drought. I live in north Texas on the Okla border, and you can see the swath there that is not as dry as the rest of the state. But, the "moderate drought" line is just a few miles from us, and still everything is burned up. My water bill was $200 last month, it'll be closer to $250 this month. I'm trying to keep my St. Augustine grass green and I have given up on the rest. There's just to much lawn to water. We start mandatory water rationing every year on June 1st. We have two days a week we can water. That goes to one day if it stays dry, and then no outside watering after that. I have a lot invested in landscaping, and now it's just a battle to keep it alive.

and this is no joking matter. Plenty of good Democrats live in these areas.
Thank GAWD our well is Spring Fed. We are having to run it wide open for 10+ hours/day just to keep our veggies from drying up and blowing away, though I don't know why we bother. It is too damn hot for most of them to produce anything.
At least the Beans are doing well.
If THIS is the New Normal, we are ALL fucked, even those of you who are laughing. Where do you think your food comes from?

9. We are on the border of D1 and D2. |
|
There is a possibility they will start to ration water output. I am more afraid of brown-outs and such. Right now, I am down one a/c and the temp in the house has risen as high as 92 degrees. I find it incredibly sad that people make fun of this situation; it is anything but a joking matter.

12. A rancher was the husband of a patient. |

he said they are relying strictly on water barrels for their livestock to drink...all the lakes in Texas are drying up.
My partner lives on Cedar Creek Lake....he said you can almost walk to the middle...the docks for boats are dry.
My sister lives in Midland... they are FINALLY enforcing water use...they HAVE to.
A lot of people who got by with just fans are sweltering here....heat-related illnesses are increasing in ERs.
Yes,there are good Democrats suffering, too. I'll be glad to see the rain....in a few months.

the grass is a dyin. i like seeing people are letting it go instead of trying to keep it up, with lack of rain. we are watering just enough not to lose it all, not to have green

17. Our lawn is scorched. |
|
I walked out to get the mail, barefoot, of course (you'd think my stupid ass would remember to put on flip-flops), and had to jump off the whitetop because it was too hot (remember this when walking your doggies; don't burn their little footie pads) and I jumped into the grass. Damned if that fucking lawn wasn't almost as hot!

As for not being around, well, I moved back to OK from NOLA a few months back and have been setting up the house and such; not much time for internet play. But thanks for your comment, it made my day...then the a/c people called and said my a/c would be fixed tomorrow, which made my day even better! :)

15. I think we're actually dryer than what the map shows |
|
We're in one of the yellow areas, in southeastern Pennsylvania -- but I've been watching the radar this summer, and time and again the storms go just to one side of us or the other. Or they get as far as Allentown and evaporate before they make it over the hills. Or a line of storms splits and we get a drizzle while people ten miles on either side of us are getting soaked.
We did get one brief downpour about a week ago -- something like an inch and a half in one hour -- but nothing else has been more than a trace. And we're dry, dry, dry. I've hauled out my trusty root waterer that I bought after an earlier drought killed off some shrubs and I'm hoping to keep everything alive. But it's becoming a struggle.
