cruelty is cruelty, no matter what the animal

12 chickens left in hot car in Walmart parking lot

Police in Kentucky say 12 chickens were left in a hot car while their owners went shopping at Walmart.

One of the chickens died and the others were taken to a shelter after someone reported they'd been left in the car for about 30 minutes, according to WKYT-TV in Lexington.

Officers in Georgetown, where it happened, say the windows were left open just a crack.

The National Weather Service says the high temperature Wednesday in nearby Lexington was 94 degrees.

5. The article specifies that it was a "car".. not a truck. So, who drives around with
chickens in their car? Twelve of them, no less.

18. What do you mean by putting "tard" at the end of the "Republi" prefix?
Have you considered the fact that this is hurtful and offensive to those of us who have family members and loved ones who have downs? Do you think about your use of this word in everyday language and who you might be hurting?

People with downs face challenges from no fault of their own, and one of the biggest challenges they face in the everyday world comes from people who throw this word around casually as an insult to someone they disagree with. It's not OK.

12. It's probably more like a motorized chicken coop. The chickens
always live their. Ma and Pa git in and take it to town once in awhile.

13. Why would states and cities and towns allow Walmarts to exist?
Because people are stupid and selfish and cheap and don't care about anyone but their next buck.

That's the reason Walmarts exist, and why chickens are mistreated. Final answer!

30. When there is an OP concerning a weird, bizarre, disgusting, horrendous, etc.
event in either Texas or Florida, there will be at least one response with just the name of the state. I thought in the interest of equal treatment I would do the same for the other states as this type post presents itself.

19. Perhaps they were to used for barter?
From the 2010 campaign:
Sue Lowden, a Republican Senate hopeful in Nevada, has been widely mocked for earlier this week stating that, "before we all started having health care, in the olden days our grandparents, they would bring a chicken to the doctor, they would say I'll paint your house."

"I mean, that's the old days of what people would do to get health care with your doctors," she said. "Doctors are very sympathetic people. I'm not backing down from that system."

CBS News

Maybe the car's owner had to run by his doctor's office to "make a payment?"

20. Disgusting. The owners should be arrested.
But they won't be.

A friend of mine works at an animal shelter in southeast Virginia. Animal Control brought in a dog recently because its stupid-ass owners left him in a car on a day in the mid-nineties. They were visiting a water park and thought it was fine if they just brought the dog water occasionally. My friend told me it is the law that the people get their dog back. Isn't nearly killing a dog because you're a thoughtless asshole a crime?

I almost didn't click on your post at all. It saddens me to no end how cruel people can be to animals. I don't understand how people can joke about it, either. Jesus, I about have a breakdown when I see one of those abused animal PSAs on TV.

24. So do I. It brings tears to my eyes.
Edited on Thu Jul-21-11 04:16 PM by RebelOne
I would do volunteer work at my local county animal shelter on weekends during animal adoptions. And I would tear up when there were dogs not adopted because I knew what would happen to them. Most of the kittens were usually adopted though.

28. When the Federal government acts with inhumane depravity at home and bombs the hell out of civilians
in their own homeland for the better part of a decade overseas, this inhumane culture is bound to permeate society to its core. While there's no excuse to ever act inhumanely, surely the American people who have kept even one eye open know what their government has been doing in their name overseas and what it's leaders are cooking up legislatively at the moment to screw we the people for the benefit of the uber-wealthy and large corporations. Calling such action inhumanely depraved understates the gravity of what is being done imo. :patriot:
