Are Republicans Committing Treason?

The Republican Party no longer has Americans' best interests at heart, and we are suffering because of it.
July 20, 2011 |

Once upon a time, in a land that now seems to have been populated by tooth fairies and unicorns, there was a political party that had a set of core beliefs to which they actually adhered.

Among them was that actually balancing the budget, as opposed to just talking about it, was sacrosanct. Slow change, while necessary, had to be balanced against the traditions of the United States, ones that had mostly served us well over two centuries.

Foreign military adventures should be limited to our national security interests. And one of the single most important components of diplomacy was protecting the economic interests not only of an elite few, but of the great many Americans who toiled in our factories and fields.

1. No crimes the Republicans might commit warrant scrutiny or concern: the MSM will
give them a pass, the administration is forward-looking, and the public is to apathetic to worry their little heads and demand accountability. :patriot:

2. No. That doesn't mean what they are doing is in any sense right.
But the Constitution defines treason pretty clearly and pretty narrowly. Having bad ideas for the direction the country should go in isn't treason.

3. Treason has a very specific definition. We should all be careful
how we use the word, I think. Using it incorrectly undermines its very serious meaning.

Republicans are most definitely Unamerican. They are truly Evil. They are working against everything we stand for. But treason? By definition, no.

4. I swear people should have to pass a test or something before throwing that word around. (nt)

5. Well they're threatening to kill my bank account
these treasonous right wing assholes will destroy all our
retirements and steal all our savings. And they'll laugh
all the way to the bank at how easy it was.

Frankly I do feel they should not be allowed to
drive our financial markets (and our country)
to the brink like this. It IS damn treasonous
and I fear the damage we will all suffer because
of these criminal GOP jerks.
