Hartmann: Fox News ‘infotainment’ is a ‘cancer’ and must be stopped
Source: RawReplay
By Stephen C. Webster

Progressive talk show host Thom Hartmann last night used the example of Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi to illustrate the dangers of media consolidation, as it relates to global media mogul Rupert Murdoch, CEO of News Corporation.

In short, Hartmann called the right-wing “infotainment” on Fox News a “cancer” on society, meant to distort democratic practices by controlling the media’s loudest messages. He went a bit further, suggesting the U.S. should “bring back the Sherman Act” and use it to “break up” media monopolies like News Corp.

This video is from Russia Today’s The Big Picture with Thom Hartmann, broadcast Wednesday, July 20, 2011
