Day of Debauchery & Gluttony (I found this on facebook)
http://www.facebook.com/dayofdebauchery

In response to Governor Rick Perry and the American Family Association's "Day of Prayer and Fasting".

For those of us who think there's more to fixing the nation's problems than just skipping a couple of meals and praying to the man in the sky to get rid of the sodomites, non-whites and poor people.

1. It doesn't matter where you are on the August 6th. While some people may choose to have their own shin digs, I haven't actually setup any actual, physical events.

2. Casey, this has nothing to do with Christianity or any sort of anti-Christian feelings, thoughts, whatever. Period. This is about the absolute hypocrisy of the far-Right and their use of evangelicals as political tool.

2. Oh, I prefer to do my debauchery and gluttony on separate days.
Just because RW so-called Xians want to load everything onto a single days doesn't mean we have to. ;-)

On one of their luxury yachts, laughing their way to make another massive Swiss bank deposit.

5. Ancient Romans celebrated their religious holidays

with parties, pageants, sex, and food. Christians spend their religious holidays solemnly complaining how rotten everybody who isn't Christian is.

Who's religious holidays sound more fun?

Edward Gibbons was right.

6. God Urges Rick Perry Not To Run For President
AUSTIN, TX—Describing Texas Gov. Rick Perry as grossly unqualified for the position, God, the Creator and Ruler of the Universe, urged Perry not to run for president of the United States Wednesday. “I prayed last night and asked the Lord to support my candidacy, and He said no,” Perry told reporters outside the Texas Capitol, explaining that God had cited the governor’s rejection of federal stimulus funds to expand state jobless benefits, his irresponsible speculation about Texas seceding from the union, and his overall lack of concrete solutions to nation’s problems as reasons why He could not endorse a Perry presidential bid. “I believe God made some valid points about my lack of credentials, and He’s absolutely right. My extreme beliefs when it comes to social issues and states’ rights are not only disturbingly narrow-minded, but would also make me a horrible president.” When reached for comment, God said He would not be present at Perry’s much-talked-about Christian day of prayer on Aug. 6, calling the governor’s use of his public office to endorse a religion both “irresponsible” and a violation of the Constitution.

7. Rick Perry Asked Why More Kids Are Getting Pregnant in Texas
Texas Governor Rick Perry is toying with a run for president. Perry is a skilled politician and has never lost an election, but he has taken an increasingly antiscience turn in his approach to governing. On global warming he now says that the leading source of "supposedly deadly carbon dioxide" is the mouth of Al Gore. On education he has appointed creationists to lead the Texas State Board of Education. And on the issue of sex ed in Texas, Perry has taken governing positions that affect millions of children based on his own personal opinions, even when those opinions are overwhelmingly contradicted by the evidence.

Texas lawmakers cut sex ed from two six-month courses to a single unit of "abstinence only" education. But early indications showed that the program wasn't working. In fact, teens in almost all high school grades were having more sex after undergoing the abstinence only program. By 2007, Texas had the highest teen birth rate in the nation.

Nevertheless, the program continued. By 2009, 94 percent of Texas schools, which at the time were educating more than 3.7 million students, were giving no sex ed whatsoever beyond "abstinence only," a curriculum that includes emphasizing that birth control doesn't work.
