One Hell Of A Photograph Of Atlantis Re-Entering The Atmosphere For Touchdown |
|
The space shuttle Atlantis, appearing like a bean sprout against clouds and city lights, on its way home, as photographed by the Expedition 28 crew of the International Space Station on Thursday, July 21. Airglow over Earth can be seen in the background. The Atlantis returned to Earth marking the end of the space shuttle era when its wheels touched down for the last time at the Kennedy Space Center.Link: http://photoblog.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2011/07/21/7135476-unprecedented-view-of-the-atlantis-photographed-by-the-expedition-28-crew:hi:

1st re-entry photo taken from above the spacecraft I've seen. The sci-fi loving kid in me is pleased.

on its way to Kennedy but it was too low on the horizon from St Pete Floriduh. But I did hear the double boom.
Man, I saw 3 of them take off from Titusville and the rush I got was better than some of the drugs I did in my yute.

And I'm not sure about that perspective, but it appears as though there is a great churning as it hits the atmosphere, followed by one hell of a steep descent back to the planet.
