Unemployment claims 418,000 for week and all Obama & Congress can talk about is cutting spending
Maybe if they actually did something to put millions of unemployed people back to work the deficit would go down thru increased tax revenues? Obama and congress are channeling Herbert Hoover.


SEASONALLY ADJUSTED DATA

In the week ending July 16, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 418,000, an increase of 10,000 from the previous week's revised figure of 408,000. The 4-week moving average was 421,250, a decrease of 2,750 from the previous week's revised average of 424,000.

2. I'd be surprised if Obama knows anyone personally that needs a job..
At his level the "Potemkin Village" effect is well nigh overwhelming.

He is probably right. Any great public works program will take forever to implement.
