1. Tangled wreckage near government buildings

The explosion caused damage to the offices of the Norwegian Prime Minister

A large explosion has hit near government headquarters in the Norwegian capital Oslo.

The blast is thought to have caused damage to the offices of Norwegian Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg and a number of other official buildings.

Initial reports suggested Mr Stoltenberg was unharmed.

At least eight people were injured in the city centre explosion, local media reports. No-one has said they were behind the attack.

Television footage from the scene showed rubble and glass from shattered windows in the streets - smoke was around some buildings. The wreckage of at least one car was in street.

2. Whoa - showing footage on MSNBC now. Don't know what
it could have been other than intentional -- not a gas leak or something. Must have been a LARGE explosion!

21. I don't know about that...
but whenever the terrorists strike it always helps the agenda of Rupe and his neocon buddies. It's strange how they also have the same goals of destroying government, creating fear etc. If I didn't know any better I'd say they're symbiotic.

I know what you can and can't put into a car. :eyes: And come to think of it, how else would they deliver the "payload"?

I hope there are no more fatalities. :(

37. Boy, was Norway even on the "terrorist" radar? They're mentioning
Al Q, and they seem to feel there is an Al Q presence in Norway, but I'm really surprised. It's hardly a World Power and I thought that's who was generally a target.

Can a bomb this size be a Timothy McVeigh type of attack? It seems bigger, somehow.

The youth division of the Labour Party has their traditional summer camp at Utøya, a recreational island in the south of the country.

Reports are coming about shots fired at the island with people swimming away from it.

32. I like to see who the handlers are
in a few years. I suspect it will be claimed to be an El Quida hit
and the suspects will be arab or moslem.

The economic and political ramifications will make Norway go more
to the right.

Who gains is always the question thus 'the real handlers' is the question.

I the real story always takes years .

38. The problem with 'terror-related' is that it usually
infers that it is linked to Middle Easterners - it could as easily be right wing terrorism as McVeigh taught the world.
