"It's not just a job, it's seven dollars an hour?"

And remember the "coffee achievers" commercial? I saw it on Saturday live and though it was one theirs. It wasn't until I saw it during a Monday Night Football game that I realized that it wasn't!

9. Sorry...it's awful, isn't it? We've had more days over a 100 degrees and
many more in the mid to upper 90's than I care to recall....in MINNESOTA! Fargo/Moorhead had a temp index last Tuesday of 134 degrees!!! We hit 120 index in the Cities.

My daughter and I had no air until 2 days ago and it started to cool down. We figured out our problem.....2 big honkin' fuses and for $11.17 & we fixed it! Such a relief.

Be careful in that heat.

Oh we're at 3 weeks straight of 100 or above. Thank goodness for air conditioning!

15. Back in '07 when we had high 90's for a couple of weeks is when I had my heart attack
going to the cardiologist next Thursday for my stress test. With my brother passing I have vowed to make it to retirement unlike my other family members.

20. Now you know why Southerners talk slower and rarely get in a hurry.
Yes mam, just sit out on the porch with a fan in one hand and a mint julep in the other all the while complaining about the heat and the price of gas as though it was a revelation. The Mexican culture here calls it a siesta...a brilliant concept.

Texas hasn't seen solid rainfall for nearly 3 months and I've lost count of the record breaking consecutive days of three digit temps. Then again, my guess is that we've acclimated to these extremes a little better than those in the north and are better prepared with air conditioning. Many here have turned to new types of housing materials that are much better insulated as well.

It seems that temps and tempers go up proportionately if you find yourself fighting it. Hence the term "chill".

So we share your pain and hope we all catch a break soon. In the meantime let me get you a mint julep.

22. I would still rather be there than in Florida
because by October and November it will all be a memory and you will have have crisp Fall temps. Two years ago I sat on a basketball court with the kids in OCTOBER and the temp on the court was 120 degrees. It took all my willpower to not cut and RUN AWAY. How about 85 degrees, PLUS HUMIDITY, on CHRISTMAS?

I am not trying to make like of this. I grew up in a tiny Manhattan apartment before home AC so I know how bad it can be sometimes. Think Fall and Winter. I always did. BTW, I have Summer SAD and just the sun makes me panic.
