South of the Border Dentistry - Anybody tried it? |
|
A friend took advantage of his trip to Mexico to get a mouthful of dental work done at a substantial savings over what he would have paid here at home. Per my friend this dentist's office was in a border town and catered to many Americans, had modern equipment and practices consistent with what he would expect here in the States. His dentist was trained in Europe.
Have any DU'ers done this? If so, what was your experience?
Dental costs are a major hassle as part of my post-retirement expenditures, and have been over budget more than any other line item. If I can pack a short vacation together with some quality dental services, and have the whole thing cost less than what I'd pay for dental alone back home... well, it SOUNDS good.
Anyone?

4. My son-in-law spent $2,000 on dentistry in Costa Rica |
|
when they were staying down there that would have cost over $10,000 in the states. He was very happy with it. The delivery of their little baby was also a fraction of what it cost in California when they had their other child two years ago.

I've had to have my porcelain caps repaired/replaced when I was living abroad. It cost me about 1/3 of what it would cost in the U.S. Send me a PM if you need a recommendation.

They drove their motor home to Mexico and had their dental work done inexpensively and then brag about how smart they were. Don't get me started . . .

Main street in Progresso has a lot of dentists and pharmacies. I think Progresso is still safe. Can't say the same thing for Laredo or Del Rio.
