Well after listening to Boehner...
1.- He does not have control of his right flank, PERIOD.

2.- We need to burn the village in order to save it.

I have the sneaky that the next 48 hours will tell us a lot of whether this now real crisis sinks us as a country.

Sadly I read the Tea Party caucus right, they are willing to burn the village to rebuild it in whatever image they want to

I will be donating more money to Obama. There is no way in hell I'm letting them win in 2012.

6. You understand what default will do...
or like most Americans you are quite clueless.

If they cannot get the kids to actually do what needs to be done, you will soon find out.

9. Like most American's I expect that the country will not degrade into civil war
Edited on Fri Jul-22-11 06:51 PM by cottonseed
in 2 days. I'm pretty confident in my position. I've got a job and things to do so I don't have the luxury of sitting around waiting for something that will never come. Don't get me wrong, it would be nice to be convinced total and absolute collapse of the country is just a few days away, and if it doesn't happen to just reset the clock, but if I really did that, I just wouldn't get any of my daily chores done. We'll be fine.

13. Who said anyting about civil war?
That said, you have no idea... which I guess is a good thing.

That said, where the US Congress is right now, is about 1859 or so, I mean in the level of intransingence.

14. Nor can they imagine this since a default
is not in the historic experience of the United States.

17. Exactly..
And its just not about saving face as a nation.. Its about our ability to continue selling Tbills to fund our foreign and domestic adventures...

taxes and benefits won't mean a thing if China and Russia no longer want to invest in us.

15. What default will do will make the global economy much worse at a stroke
but it won't happen all at once and the effects won't be obvious for a year or more. At which point the Republicans will gleefully say "see? Obama ruined the economy because he wouldn't do a deal!" and there are enough idiots with short attention spans out there who will believe them. Because let's face it, the GOP are collectively cynical enough to fuck the country in the short term if it fatally wounds Obama's re-election chances and gives them a lock on 2012. This is what happens when a gang of far-right ideologues masquerading as conservatives take over part of the political discourse.

Edited on Fri Jul-22-11 06:47 PM by liberalmuse
Two so far, and they're working on their third. This is really hard to watch. I was raised to believe that if you fought, marched, and worked towards what you believe in, there's nothing you can't do in this country. Well, after 10 years I'm ready to believe that was a crock. Turns out all you need is lots of money.

This is Obama's 'cuban missle crisis' moment... he's trying to stave off an economic armageddon that would leave empty food banks as the ONLY banks left standing.

This Tea Bagger thing has gotten completely out of hand and is now a real threat to the country. A threat that needs to be dealt with.

Edited on Fri Jul-22-11 06:53 PM by high density
They apparently don't want a government at all.. Which makes me wonder why they are living in this country in the first place. I would like to understand how a lunatic libertarian 25% of the right fringe all the sudden became presented as the majority position in this country.

Not that they can identify that.

They want to go Galt on all of us... forgetting that a novel is not real life.

18. The Tea Party would rather burn the village than have a
Black man presiding over the village.
They are nothing short of consumed by racial hatred!

20. +100000000000
Had a young home schooled 20 something puke try to tell me is all Obama's fault...cut him off with I hope we default that will show them...imagine the high interst I'd be earning while your working to pay for it.. He wants to be a politician but he can't get out of bed or showup on time for a PT job...he is now on his second agency...his work history is something most pukes have. No loyality but its not his fault its everyones else's. He walked away.

21. The racism/hatred isn't even subtext, is it?
The degradation of discourse is frightening. Exhibit A: Joe Walsh (R-Ore.) on "Hardball" this week.
