I'm taking FMLA leave to go see my dad. He was admitted to the hospital today for - probably - the final time. The cancer he has fought valiantly, since his esophagectomy in 2003, has almost won. The family shall gather at his bedside this week. This might be my last meeting with my dad.

Some B&W photos from this morning best suit my mood today. Imagine Beethoven's Für Elise in the background when you look at the pictures.

4. Keeping you in my thoughts, and
nice pics, btw! Gorgeous. I used to trek to Hahn's Peak in Colorado in the morning, when fog would lift from the lake and move over a highway. Nothing like an art show by Mother Nature.

12. Nature has a scene for all our emotions
My mother died a year and a half ago. She was given home hospice care which was a blessing to her and to us. If this is the end for him, may it be as blessed as it was for my mother.

15. Thanks.

As a son whose father is also suffering I wish your time remaining with him to be as memorable, if at all possible, as it can.

I always appreciate your photos.
