5. What's their major motive for doing this? Sales? Inflaming public?
Or because they knew the suspect was a RIGHT-WINGER??

6. The more people call it "Norway's 9/11," the better that narrative will fit, even though it's not
true. It's much more like "Norway's OKC."

7. Why let facts get in the way of their agenda?
I'd like to see a poll of consumers of Rupert's rags and TV news to see how many will continue to hold the view that the Norway attacks were done by al Qaeda, similar to how FOX News consuming morons still think Iraq was involved in 9-11.

9. The BBC was no different
The BBC's Security Correspondent Gordon Corera says initial speculation pointed the finger at al-Qaeda - possibly because of Norwegian troops' presence in Afghanistan - but it now seems clear the attacker had a domestic agenda.

10. Many Here Jumped To The Same Conclusion...
No sooner did the first reports come in then I heard some "expert" on M$NBC start the Al Queda speculation...like a Pavlovian reaction. Within that same hour they brought on another "expert" who also figured this "had the profile of Al Queda" and just added to the speculation. It's the media's default in any attack that is still fluid and there's the need to fill print space or airtime. Murdoch wasn't alone in this game as the media abhors an information vacuum and will always fill it.

11. Do you wonder whether there would still be live coverage on M$NBComcast
and CNN if the attacker was a Muslim?
The truth is that the role of the corporate media is impression management of their agenda an d akey part is to divide and rule.

12. Stick To The Narratives...
Sadly we've seen how they react when its a Muslim involved...remember the underware bomber? It was non-stop chatter all weekend and led to the draconian body scanners and groping at airports. When an Arabic name is involved it automatically amps up the Al Queda meme and the fear template is put into play.

So much of this is the corporate media being lazy as much as doing any sort of message management. The talking points are so ingrained they become the point of reference. They also know that when a big story like this happens the number of viewers spike and they need to create some narrative to keep people watching and nothing does that better than speculation and fear.

:hi:

13. Maybe they should develop a narrative about right wing
terrorists - we have had enough evidence about the madness of these lunatics. They have as many global networks as the fundamentalist Muslim lunatics :hi:

15. That's Just Hippies Whining...
The right wing has an elaborate hate network...just pop on the radio. There's the usual bile spewers like rushbo who purposely pull the chains but there's also another network...religious radio where "preachers" go on endlessly about the "moooslim threat" and how its a demonic religion. Its how the birfer thing took off and is part of a larger mantra of christians being persecuted and how that preecher needs your money to fight all that evil.

Any time we point out how dangerous right wing extremists in this country and others are the corporate media slaps us down as being the alarmists. The 9/11 mindset truly turned some people into babbling fools.
