A White House Reverie at 5 Minutes to Midnight
(and YES, this is :sarcasm: )

Obama tells Boehner and McConnell:
"Your party set out three decades ago to deepen our deficit problems
, and brought us the economic near-meltdown of 2008. And now that you've forced the crisis into the political arena openly again and have Americans' undivided attention, you will support the balanced cuts-and-revenue approach that most of them, and most of the people they've elected, actually want.
"If you don't do this, I will announce the default of the United States as the sole consequence of an attempted Republican coup-d'etat, led now by yourselves, against fairness in sacrifice as well as in social assistance. Most Americans have endorsed and expected that balance since 1932, even when they've elected Republicans presidents and members of Congress, who seldom campaigned openly against those foundations.
"I will then invite either of you to the podium to explain to the American people, whom you invoke so often, why your vision of a nation whose jobs and markets can be sustained only if your wealthy patrons are freed from all burden sharing required you to drive the United States and the world economy over a cliff.
"You have an hour to decide."
