So the rethugs are willing to tank the entire economy so the rich can save a few tax $$$ |
|
How utterly fucking selfish and short-sighted.
I wonder if the tax dollars they're fighting so hard for will be greater than the losses that will take place if the economy tanks.

if the economy collapses.

white house in 2012
They have no desire to do what is best for the country, only what is best for "the party"
This more than anything should tell you exactly where the republican party stands

...and now, by the hand of "their boner" they will be heading for the soup lines they despise by next month!
And in FL, the person who tries to feed them will be arrested!

All they want is POWER AND MORE money.
At all costs. Consequences don't matter (until the day they have to say "We R Sorry" to save their asses).

countered with an additional $4bn in revenue increases...the prez is keeping the "give/take" leveled and they cannot stand it! No goal post moving by either side---it was Both sides :)

around here I am more scared than before. I only see a couple of outs here:
1) No deal at all and Aug 3rd comes. This will lead to one of a couple of outcomes: A) The President tries to use the 14th Amendment solution, gets shot down by the Roberts court, gets impeached in the house (not convicted in the Senate though - unless he tells the SC to screw themselves and then we have a real constitutional crisis!) B) Same as above but the SC rules for the President - Repubs hammer this issue to victory in 2012 as the downgrades from S&P et al go through, interests rates go up, the economy continues to sputter and the R's say 'I told you so'.
2) The President basically caves in one of two ways: A) He gives up the 400 billion in revenue from the rich and we get the basic deal outlined yesterday. B) Agrees to a short term extensions (6 months or so) that make cuts at least equal to the amount of the debt increase. Then we get to do this again in 6 months.
I really don't see the R's caving at all. Not that I think some wouldn't want a more acceptable deal. Just that there are not the votes for anything less than the above in the House. The Speaker CANNOT control his members - many of which are the crazies I was talking about.
