Is Boehner at the White House? If not, Obama should be standing outside right now, 11:15 |
|
with Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi, telling the American people that the Republicans are not serious about deal making. That they are in fact, no shows.
Period. Nothing more needs to be said. Just a blunt appearance with the ones that came and then stalking off to go do the people's business.
Theater? Yup. But at this point, Obama needs to be ratcheting up those points in the public's mind.

1. I don't know if he's there or not. |
|
Is there some word that he is not? I hadn't heard that, except as a speculation here on DU.

2. I think the general population is confused. |
|
You are right - Obama, Reid and Pelosi can fix that.
Has anyone seen a list of talking heads for the Sunday shows?

7. Good. Because failing to appear and make a good faith effort to resolve this shit |
|
is infuriating.
It's crap politics and disgusting gamesmanship.
He better well be there or I sincerely hope Obama makes a public spectacle of his non-appearance.

5. If Boner does not show, President Obama is better off waiting and putting together a |

press conference to nail Boner's ass to a wall.

6. It would have been unthinkable to me a few days ago, but maybe |
|
the Repubs won't show up. If that happens Obama should put a clean bill before them on Monday and demand a vote. Then, assuming they vote it down, he should invoke his 14th Amendment powers. The key to this would be a Congressional turn-down of a clean bill.

8. Boner is nursing a nasty hangover and doesn't want to be disturbed. |

along with Biden and Obama. MSNBC just showed a photo of all of them in the WH conference room, but nobody was talking to the press. After the photo shot, all reporters were removed from the meeting.

The games the Rethugs are playing are really pissing me off. The heat wave gives me a very short temper.....

I'm fine, actually my apartment, 'basement' in a hillside, near a park, doesn't NEED a/c; told landlord not to bother installing this year; ceiling fans fine. I 'escape' here, 60 miles north of DC, instead of friend's closer-in suburban town-house, wherein a/c doesn't make its way to 2d floor, so sleeping in bedroom impossible.
Most peeps have a/c. Haven't heard of any disasters, but not planning on going out.
P.S., was in Georgetown yesterday for fitting for my Mother of the Bride outfit, very exciting, but did have to walk a few blocks in the heat. The good news? I survived!
