And then there was the rant last week by R. Lee Ermey (the Geico psychologist) who still works
Edited on Sun Jan-09-11 06:21 PM by DainBramaged
for Geico:

"Now I hate to point fingers at anybody but the present administration probably had a lot to do with that," Ermey said. "And the way I see it, they're not going to quit doing it until they bring this country to its knees."

Ermey exhorted the public to "rise up and stop this administration from what it is dong, because they're destroying this country. They're driving this country into bankruptcy so they can impose socialism on us."

1. meh...
there's not much there. Rising up and stopping an administration is common speak for legislatively stopping.

It's all the target/crosshair/reload/aim high type crap that is inappropriate.

3. He and Victoria Jackson have something in common
Edited on Sun Jan-09-11 06:18 PM by Duer 157099
I thought both of them were acting in their respective roles that they are each known for.

Sadly, Ermey's performance in Full Metal Jacket remains one of the most compelling and memorable that I've ever seen. Too bad that it might have been only mildly hyperbolic on his part.

edit to add: and let's not forget what actually happened in FMJ, how his anger-filled hate drove Private Pyle off the cliff and resulted in violence.

6. Legend has it that Ermey sent Kubric an audition video of him delivering one of his monolouges

from the film (all of which Ermey wrote himself) while a crowd of people pelted him with oranges and tennis balls. Ermey did not even flinch or stutter a single line.

A star was born.

8. Holy shit, is that true? I never heard that (that Ermey wrote those lines)
That makes it even worse. I was thinking that the role got under his skin, sort of like how The Overlook got to Jack Torrance.

I'm sort of surprised Kubrick, a control freak, would have permitted such a thing, But clearly, it was the right choice, it worked.

7. actually, Americans prefer socialist outcomes from their economy
but they are fed so much propaganda they don't understand that what they think is the ideal for our tax policy is what people like this dipshit call socialism.

if anyone wants the link - the researcher who wrote Predictably Irrational covered the issue. google Ariely, Denmark, Americans Prefer
