Dress code?

I heard that a mandatory dress code has been put in at SRS. Has anyone heard about this? Is it going statewide? Not that I'd object to this one, just curious.

Yes, I heard Dept of Admin started this too. I suspect its going to spread to all agencies.

1. Lovely...
"People judge you – the person in seven seconds, and they judge your ideas in thirty seconds."

Why is so much of this culture trying to sell us on the idea that we should live like monkeys and not human beings? The entire history of the concept of tolerance involves teaching people to NOT make, or take seriously, these seven-second snap judgments, which, being unconscious, usually include our childhood prejudices and rarely include our adult learning. If there's a scrap of bigotry anywhere in you, it will come out in these snap judgments, while you can override it with logic or compassion if given the opportunity.

I do wonder what problem they're facing that calls for a dress code in the first place, though? The source doesn't really indicate anything.

"It is reasonable to expect our attire mirror the industry we regulate"
I pity the employees who have to regulate street performers. Or the police.

"This is the exact same information you would get if tomorrow you were hired at a Fortune 500 financial services company."
Why public employees should be expected to mirror the fashion sense of THESE dweebs is utterly beyond me. Another WTF.

"to the Men; don’t forget when shining your shoes to pay particular attention to your right heel. That is the shoe you lead with when
entering a vehicle and therefore the right heel is often the most scuffed area of a dress shoe, thus requiring the most attention."

on the other hand...
"Inappropriate attire for work includes tank tops; midriff tops; shirts with potentially offensive words, terms, logos, pictures, cartoons, or slogans; halter-tops; tops with bare shoulders; sweatshirts, and t-shirts"

If you have to tell people whose job is REGULATING THE WHITE-COLLAR SECURITIES INDUSTRY not to wear tank tops or offensive T-shirts to work...
