My LTTE was publshed in our local paper this week. There was a response to it
printed today! I wrote on DU the other day that I got a nasty snail mail response to it, and now there's a published response in todays paper. Here's the response:

I would like to know what planet Xxxxx Xxxxxxxx lives on or at the least, what flavor Kool-Aid she's drinking. Sure the government can operate like an individual or business. No entity can operate spending more money than it brings in for an extended period of time. It boils down to government getting back to taking care of what it's supposed to and eliminating all the extras.

Where are these tax cuts you speak of? I didn't see any. I'll tell you where they went. They went to Obama's large corporate donor cronies and labor unions. You can look it up. The stimulus was nothing but a short term band-aid handed out as a reward for donating to his campaign.

What's the problem with Republican-led state governments? These states are operating in the black or break-even. States with the most severe budget issues such as California, New York and Michigan, to name a few, have been run by the Democrats for the past several decades.

If you are yearning for four more years of Obama, then may I suggest you go ahead and move to Greece, Spain or a number of other Western European countries immediately. This is where Obama's vision has the U.S. headed.

Government, especially our form of government, is designed where the people support the government. The liberal philosophy has completely turned this around to where people want the government to support them. As Margaret Thatcher said "the problem with socialism is, you eventually run out of other people's money."

We have got to shrink the size of our government and reign in the entitlement spending or the USA will be no more.

I removed my name from the above for obvious reasons. Where can I find the amt. most people received in tax cuts from Obama's stimulus package? I know everyone got someting but I forget what the % was. I want to respond to this Redneck,, even though I have no guarantee it will be published, and I want factual info to dispute his claims.

FYI, here's what I wrote in my original LTTE:

Goernment should not be managed like a family or a business. It's income is dependant on taxes ppaid abd when so many people are unemployed its income is way down.

More than 40% of President Obama's stimulus was tax cuts. Did you know that? Many of the jobs lsot in the last few months were because the stimulus ran out. Giveaway to the wealthy only make things worse.

I hope to see another four years of President Obama. Look at what all the Republican governors have been doing in many states and ask yourself if you really want that kind of on the federal level. I sure don't!

I don't want to live in a "corpratocracy" and that's where were they want to take this country. Check to see how things worked out for Mussoulini. That's no good for America.

My LTTE was in response to a previous ne whre some idiot compared Obama to Musoulini.

3. i believe the tax cuts were out of payroll taxes or something so instead of a one time check we got
them in increases in our check by whatever the amount of the decrease in payroll taxes collected was. No one even noticed it. So Obama didn't even get credit for it. I like the idea how the republican run states supposedly are in the black which is total bs. They aren't. They are using the Stimulus money to make it seem like they are in the black I think. They cut services and gave tax cuts to corporations.

The problems in California I believe had to do with the ballot initiatives.. People wanting things without paying the taxes for them. But that's from someone in NY who doesn't know anything about California except what I have heard on the MSM, so I don't even know if any of that is true. I do live in NY and the problems with that is that we have a messed up government in Albany. "3 men in a room". I don't know what is going on up there but it isn't much. I live in WNY and you'd be amazed at the vitriol I have to listen to around here. They think NYC is the cause of all our problems. I don't think so.

"States with the most severe budget issues such as California, New York and Michigan, to name a few, have been run by the Democrats for the past several decades."

Blanchard (from Jan. 1, 1983 to Jan. 1, 1991) and Granholm (from Jan. 1, 2003 to Jan. 1, 2011) were the only two Dems to serve as Governor of Michigan since Jan. 1, 1963.

11. Yes, because he listed NY also
It appears he doesn't count Republicans when it would obviously weaken his claims.

8. He's too dumb to know that "shrink the size of our government" means...
...getting rid of Social Security and Medicare.

That's "Big Government" according to the people who have pushed "small government" ideology, and this guy just parrots it.

12. So many wingnuts around here say the same thing
about the stimulus. I always here "giveaway to the unions." That's gotta be a talking point from Rush and/or Fox. It just comes up over and over again.
