1. The markets tanking might actually be what gets the debt ceiling raised
When the markets freak out politicians respond. That's just a fact.

Whether or not it means a GOOD deal is another thing entirely.

7. Boehner's new negotiating position
That's all.

Two votes? Why, so they can vote on spending cuts and raising the debt ceiling on one, then vote down tax increases on the other? No thanks.

11. Two votes would split the total and make Obama request the votes twice rather than once,
something he has already refused to do since he said any bill must carry them through 2013.

6. Why is this a headline? Obama said the same thing yesterday
Boehner's me-tooism is just amusing.

The fact is that he has no control over his cuckoo-bananas caucus. He can yap until the end of time. Until he gets the Tea Fanatics on board, he's just blowing hot air.

12. You can only give away the farm to someone who is taking it
Otherwise, the act is more like offering a farm as an object lesson.

Just sayin'.

No takers = No giving.

20. Let the markets react negatively
The worse the markets react the more chance of Boner folding and Obama signing a clean bill with no psychopathic nonsense attached to it.

22. Yea well Boehner should have thought about that before he
picked the Debt Ceiling as an issue to fight over. He walked out again on talks because he doesn't want to put anything on the table....he and his party did this.....they have gone to far down the path and they are unable to turn back....

29. I'm confused. Is the president's offer of cuts to SS and Medicare,
and tax increases only to the bottom 70% of wage earners still on the table? I read somewhere that the loony right now doesn't want Boner to sign because of the cuts. They've actually managed to outflank Obama on the left.

I don't click on the right-wing politico site, if you could provide an update from a reputable source it wold be appreciated.

30. Boehner: "As I read the Constitution, the Congress writes the laws..."

"As I read the Constitution, the Congress writes the laws and you get to decide what you want to sign," Boehner said, recounting what he told the president, according to two sources.

Just yesterday at his press conference:

"Listen, we've put plan after plan on the table. You know the House passed its budget. We had our plan out there. The House passed the 'Cut, Cap and Balance'. Never once did the president ever come to the table with a plan."

Well, if Congress writes the laws then why does he believe the President needs to bring a plan to Congress?

And I'm not really sure that "Cut, Cap and Balance" should be considered a plan - it's little more than an outline of target levels of spending and revenue with few (if any) details.

Which is fine by me. It will give the President another opportunity to slap Bonehead down once more.
