Sheriff steals marijuana, gives to elderly cancer patient
Edited on Sat Jul-23-11 06:05 PM by meow mix
WALB News 10 has learned that Sheriff Roy Wiley is being investigating for possibly removing a large amount of marijuana from his crime evidence room and giving it to a cancer patient.

"He's a very popular fellow, good guy, good fellow," said John Holland.

"As far as I've been concerned he's been a great sheriff, he's fair and decent to everyone," said Billy Jordan.

But the town is now buzzing about a criminal investigation into Wiley's actions. WALB News 10 is told that Sheriff Wiley instructed one of his officers to remove a large amount of marijuana from the criminal evidence room so he could give it to a friend with cancer.

1. I doubt many people can be found to sit on a grand jury
and indict the man.

They'll have to move his trial to the opposite end of the state.

6. Oh, I betcha there's enough folks that got RRed for a bag of weed to
make up a grand jury or 10... Not that I don't applaud what he's doing now,but is he releasing those in his jail that are guilty of the same thing?

3. He shouldn't have involved another officer
He should have just gone in and taken it himself.

4. His intentions may have been good, but what of the people who were arrested and had it confiscated?
What if they were cancer patients? The story doesn't say if he was returning it to one of them.

The whole thing is becoming more and more of a farce. The old US pharmacopeia at one time prescribed its use in formulations.

We aren't even allowed to grow hemp for practical uses here, as the Founders did.

I'm certainly not saying that we have to return to the days of medical quackery as the FDA was supposed to be formed to prevent. Even though in the last few years I'm more disenchanted with the things that are being offered by the pharmaceutical giants than ever.

We've got a stranglehold on alternatives based on monopoly power and greed over an area of health we should not be leaving in the hands of the current power brokers. I hope that we will look at the story behind the story, the insanity of a man having to break a law to help someone.

I believe there are even better alternatives to pot for many medical purposes, I'm not in the cult of grass and don't have any personal interest. But whether this guy is a saint or a hero, time will tell.
