Worst case scenario: Rethugs regain power in 2012... |
|
health care reform overturned
troops made to stay additional time in foreign wars
start a new war
overturn rights for the LGBT community
give more tax breaks to the wealthy
make it mandatory for women to have a child by the age of 21 or face jail
eliminate all entitlement programs
wipe out social security, medicare and medicaid
launch a major war on immigrants, legal and illegal
close all mosque in the country
pay George Bush to be a consultant to the White House
find a way to prosecute Obama for foolishness and imprison him
deny Obama a Presidential Library
Start McCArthy like hearings to match the ones they already have
Declare the nation a Christian nation and forbid any other religious group from legitimacy in this country
Close the Department of Education
Forbid any research on climate change
restrict stem cell research
eliminate unions across America
Institute strict voting laws that would make sure that minorities would have little to no access to the ballot
Eliminate Pell grants and any government funding of higher education
Set up their own system of checks and balances for how government will operate
refuse assistance to impoverished foreign nations
Begin Armageddon!!!!!

1. I rec'd your OP and it is still at zero ;( |
|
Also, IF the republicans were to retake the Oval Office, a Republican president would appoint right-wing judges to the Supreme Court and Federal Courts!
We must do everything in our power to make sure that we have a Democratic president in the White House and that we retain control of the Senate!!!

5. It is NOT a certainty that a republicans will win, because Obama WILL win RE-election. |
|
I think the question is: How many Senate seats and House seats will the Democrats pick up in 2012 now that the majority of Amerians know that the republicans are trying to destroy America as we know it?

27. President Obama will win handily. I'm afraid of losing the Senate! |
|
We are royally fucked, then.
Hatred/racism directed towards this president will ensure Republican victories if we don't stop them. We need to vote! When we show up, we win!!

6. if Republicans are trying so hard to do all these horrible things, why is Obama trying so hard |
|
to agree with them?
It would make more sense to work around them in every way possible, use the bully pulpit to beat them to a pulp, and when the Senate had a chance to change the filibuster rule, he should have kicked Democrats asses to do it.
Instead, Obama only seems to treat the GOP like an opponent during campaign season, then he goes back to ignoring the leaders and ideas of his own party and pleading with the GOP to let him implement theirs.

20. They got the Dems to vote with them |
|
You might not remember the endless "up-or-down" vote mantra played by the media, and the endless charges of "obstructionism," but they actually did happen. The Dems were cowed into letting particular votes through, including the vote on the Bush tax cuts, which could have been easily filibustered in a 50-50 Senate, but was not.

29. They don't even need it in the "minority" as their power since 2008 has proven |
|
The Republicans were on the ropes, unpopular and in the total moinority after the 2008u electioin.
Funny how over the past two years they have still been driving the agenda and message.

10. Maybe the problem was winning 2008 |
|
instead of 2012 as a first. If the "others" had won 2008 they'd have been left holding the bag on their own misdeeds rather than President Obama.

11. That could possibly be true, BUT.... |
|
thank God that Obama won in 2008 and not McCain/Palin. Four years of McCain/Palin, in my opinion would have been disastrous for the USA, and left even more of a mess for the democrats to fix in the future.

15. They OWN 2000-2006 ... |
|
the worst six years in modern history in this planet, and the moment BO was elected, before he even took office, the "liberal media" started piling the responsibility on BO.
Now - the same crape the Rs did to pretty much create the problems we face is the solution to the problems we face.
Up is down and down is up, the Ds will get blamed for the problems and the sainted Rs the simple, american answers to the problems regardless of who is in charge.
