I think this Tucson massacre may have finished Sarah Palin |
|
Edited on Sun Jan-09-11 07:07 PM by glarius
as a presidential candidate. If she tries to make a run for the presidency not only will the "cross-hairs" be brought up, but her reality show with all her shooting and gun toting will follow her with negative conotations. To this point, Palin has gloried in her reputation as a fearless mamma grizzly....but she will no longer be able to do this.IMO.

6. I said that when she quit her job a year and a half ago |
|
And yet she never seemed to go away. The media kept on doting on her, speculating about her for 2012, matching her up in hypothetical 2012 polls with Obama, etc.
I just don't see it.

12. I don't know. All the crazy things Bush said didn't |
|
keep him from doing a second term. Remember when he called North Korea part of the axis of evil and alluded to the fact that maybe we should invade them? Well, that took Kim Jong Il from a position of not having nukes to having them and now we have to deal with the fall out from that. I don't find this much different on a domestic front. She might get away with it.

22. But Palin is a celebrity. She lives and breathes on public perception. |
|
the fact that we haven't heard a word from her personally is indication that her agents and handlers are hiding her--and there's a reason for that.
Maybe it's just wishful thinking on my part, but I agree with glarius--she may desperately want to stay in the spotlight, but this tarnish won't rub off, I don't think.

25. The right wing noise machine will turn her into the victim by tomorrow. |
|
as one commenter put it:
"Refudiation free zone here. 20 people are mowed down in a grocery store and Palin thinks she's the victim? Typical. You don't get to spend 3 years blowing a dog whistle and yelling fire in a theater then get to wash your hands of it when it goes bad," - from a commenter on Politico.

31. She'll be made a victim of this. She loves to parlay negative "MSM" press to her advantage. |
|
This is only going to fuel her supporters into a frenzy.
You are also operating under the delusion that Rethugs and Sarah's Tea Party Crazies actually feel remorse for this.
I don't believe they do. Not one bit. I think that's why Sarah's laying low - she's waiting for her followers to whip themselves up in defense of her - blaming Gabrielle Giffords, and the federal judge to boot for provocation.
Just wait, imho, this will only ramp up Sarah's popularity within her base. Already there are supporters begging her to announce her presidential run immediately to somehow "defuse" the controversy! They aren't going to be dissuaded by something like a 9 year old getting gunned down as collateral damage! :puke: The 9 year old is going to be transformed as some kind of heroic icon/martyr by them. I don't think there's any level they won't sink to in order to elevate St. Sarah.

In party low enough to accuse war heroes of having illegitimate children they no doubt will have not problem calling her a murderer if only in robo calls and letters. That crap works though.
