As Oklahomans Die, Inhofe Mocks Killer Heat Wave

http://thinkprogress.org/green/2011/07/22/276762/as-oklahomans-die-inhofe-mocks-killer-heat-wave/

The heat wave now battering much of the nation is centered on Oklahoma, where record heat and drought have crippled the state for the entire summer. With August on the way, there is no end in sight. The prolonged heat — Oklahoma City has been above 100°F for 30 days this summer — has probably killed over a dozen Oklahoma residents:

The sustained heat has taxed local water systems and claimed at least five lives, with another eight deaths possibly being caused by the heat, authorities said.

The oil-rich state is also the epicenter of global warming denial, led by its senior U.S. Senator, Jim Inhofe (R-OK). The oil-funded senator has a long history of finding humor in the misery caused by extreme weather disturbed by greenhouse pollution, including the record snowstorms of this winter. This deadly heat wave is no exception. In a tweet on Thursday, Inhofe’s press office mocked the killer heat, arguing that Al Gore could cool it off:

-snip-

The tweet links to the Wikipedia page on “The Gore Effect,” which is the climate-denier claim that weather and appearances by Al Gore are linked. The claim, of course, lacks any sense whatsoever, but that’s never been a burden for Inhofe.
-----------------------

Inhofe spews while sitting in an air conditioned office, home, car, restaurant, etc.

Oklahomans should chain him to a shadeless, bus stop for half an hour - that would shut him up

1. I vote we send him to Tipton, Oklahoma
and dump his ass without water or shelter.

It hit 120 degrees there in 1994. Hopefully, we can get another one of those.

He can pray it all away...but since I have a tendency to like the Oklahoma casinos--I'll place my bet on Mother Nature taking care of that steaming pile of republican excrement.

5. You like the casinos in Oklahoma?
I usually hate them.....at least once a week! He he. We hit Winstar on Wednesdays after the senior citizens hit the buses to go home, around 5:00 PM. That seems to be when we do the best.

11. Never been to that one....
...but my parents like to go there. You're in the Bonham area, if I remember correctly, so Durant is a lot closer. I'm just across the bridge from Winstar in Gainesville. I didn't go for a couple of years after they opened, but there is nothing else to do nearby. I had won the last four outings before last week, but I lost last week. I'm not a gambler, I purchase entertainment.
I take a $100 and when it's gone, so am I. I tell the wife I'm playing for crab money, any winnings go towards king crab legs.
We go to Sam's in Sherman to buy them. I was never a big fan of crab until I ate king crab legs. Now, I'm addicted!

2. Can't someone lock him in a parked car and forget him?
If ignorance was a gusher, he'd be the Ghawar Field in S.A.

3. And yet they'll continue to re-elect him

So I have to conclude that not enough people there are bothered by this stuff. This isn't the first, nor the last, case of buffoonery from him.

8. Yep!
He only gets away with this crap because he doesn't fear losing an election. And he's certainly not the only one in OK, judging by the State Legislature. One has to wonder what in the hell is wrong in Oklahoma that the citizenry are so eager to follow sociopathic lunatics.

4. I read the other day that Limbaugh was making fun of the heat
as well. In specific he was ranting about the heat index and how it was a government plot and "made up". The posts following the article were priceless, with some speculating he was back to self-medicating and others asking if he didn't believe in wind chill either. Republicans have some real winners (or should that be whiners?) representing them.

6. And yet,
Oklahomans will run to the polls to vote for him again when the time comes.

10. POS..
his air conditioner should go out and he should be stranded with no gas and water on a deserted road where no one comes by for months at a time.
