#f@ckyouwashington hashtag takes Twitter by storm
Source: Raw Story
By Muriel Kane

Most suddenly-popular Twitter hashtags refer to events or celebrities that currently are in the news. But every once in a while, one erupts out of nowhere to capture the mood of the Twitterverse.

The hashtag #fuckyouwashington is currently making the rounds in just that fashion. As explained in a post at tagdef.com, "Thousands of tweets erupted in a matter of hours on #Jul23 protesting the US's failed debt ceiling talks and general policies. Spurred by @JeffJarvis . Seen by some as part of #WorldRevolution or #USRevolution."

A second post helpfully adds, "Our discontent with the way things operate. It's gross."

Although the tag may have been inspired by the current impasse over raising the debt ceiling, it seems to have released a much wider sense of frustration. Within a few hours, message boards like Democratic Underground were gathering some of the best tweets using the tag.

1. I just did 13 tweets. Let's DU it!
Get yourself a Twitter account if you don't already have one, and just preface your tweet with #fuckyouwashington .

2. Because it's "washington's" fault, not the GOPs?
Seriously, the problem isn't in Washington DC at all. It's all over the U.S. where people still prefer a GOP Congress to a Democratic one.

I won't be "retweeting" any such blame-shifting.

3. I agree
While I know that the people who use that hashtag are referring to Congress, I can't help but get offended, because I live in the Washington DC area. There are people who live in DC, who are regular workers who have nothing to do with this. Maybe a better hashtag would refer to the Republicans or the tea party. Just " fuck you Washington" is like you said blame shifting. It is following the "both sides do it" meme.

7. The Democrats are being fooled.
They have been sold on the idea that "We can't default on the rich, only on you suckers who depend on Social Security."

Remember 2008 when we had to rescue the banks. We are being told that they repaid everything they borrowed.

Except that what the Fed is still lending them is not disclosed.

The Democrats need to wake up.

Another scam is being pulled on them.

If they just hold out, the Republicans will agree to raise taxes on the rich.

A lot of Americans have become homeless or moved in with relatives in the past three years and more.

The rich could become yachtless like the rest of us and it would not hurt them a bit. Might save a few fish for all I know.

And mind you I support my congressman and the Democratic Party, but they are having the wool pulled over their eyes. Good people, but naive, and Wall Street knows just how to play them.

Wake up Democrats.
