The game (& make NO mistake-it is a game) goes on.
The game goes on.

This debate is keeping us from thinking through the challenges on jobs, on infrastructure, on bringing the Afghanistan War to a constructive close, on the important developments in Egypt, Syria and Libya; on next generation energy needs; on uncertainties in the health care arena; on just about every subject.

1. kpete, we are paying attention.
But how many other people in this country are paying attention?

The Norway tragedy is uppermost in most people's minds. Before that, it was Casey Anthony.

I had a hard time even finding video of Obama's news conference until hours later. (I was working and out of the house). How many people bothered to sit down and look at it later?

Most people will not face it until it impacts them personally. Economics is a hard subject for most people to understand. I work at knowing what all of it means. That does not make me an expert. I simply know where to look up some things.

When it comes to staying informed about this, I think we are the exceptions.

2. I'm very sorry for Norway, but this fearmongering is killing far more people here....

...How many seniors and people with disabilities are waiting this mess out under incredible stress, not knowing if they will get their check next week so they can pay bills or even eat in the coming month?

Stress can kill a person as surely as a bullet or a bomb. Especially when the victim of that stress is elderly and/or infirm.

This "game" going on in D.C. is deadly, and a lot more innocent people may die because of it than the hundred or so killed in the Norway attack.

3. I agree with that.
I am feeling the stress myself.

My mother is 82, and she is really feeling it. She is worried that some of the programs that help her take care of my dad will be cut. She can't afford to put him in a nursing home.
