The US Constitution ENTITLES Us To Certain Rights Just As Social Security Insurance ENTITLES Us

To benefits as written in Law.

The only way Entitlement can be perceived as a negative is if you are an anarchist and refuse to abide by the Law or honor contracts.

And Anarchists is what the Far Right have become (as per Andrew Sullivan's observation).

3. We all agree, so I wish we could be hollering this at Congress and
the POTUS. To their faces!

No need to convince us. :7

7. He "feels entitled", or She has a "false sense of entitlement."

These are phrases that have become ubiquitous. Unfortunately, they appear to have tainted the word "entitlement" itself!

Sadly, it might be better to think of a new word to describe SS and Medicare to avoid confusion.

8. While I don't disagree with your point, I would argue

that the Constitution does not 'entitle' us to certain rights. Rights are recognized as inalienable (with us at birth, not provided by law or custom but innate) and enumerated as such in the Bill of Rights.

Laws are not rights in the Constitutional sense because they can be changed.

Other then that, though, I agree that the word entitlement has been appropriated in a disturbing way.

ON edit: I meant to write 'disagree' in the title. oops.

10. So, if they do away with Social Security, or lower the amount paid back...
...does that mean I pay less into it?
Nope. Didn't think so.
