Oregon Democrats wait for Wu to respond to charge

ORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Oregon Democrats are waiting for word from Rep. David Wu on how he plans to respond to calls for him to resign in the face of a scandal.

But Wu stayed mum on Sunday about the allegation reported by The Oregonian newspaper that a young woman reported "aggressive and unwanted sexual behavior."

Wu's opponent in last year's Democratic primary plans to ask party activists in Washington County, the core of the congressional district, to approve a no-confidence resolution this week.

But some county Democratic leaders in Wu's district say they're waiting for him to respond to the allegation before making up their minds.

Meanwhile, aides to Democratic Gov. John Kitzhaber and the state Democratic party said Wu hasn't reached out to consult with them.

1. I think Wu is toast.

But he'll likely be replaced by a more effective Democrat. And that is good news.

We're frankly better off without him. He's been a back-bencher the whole time he's been in Congress.
