I remain convinced that a deal will be struck and we will all suffer for it.
All, that is, except for the corporations and the wealthy.

It's so damned disheartening. It gives me a hollow feeling in the pit of my stomach.

1. I think that's pretty much the safest bet, really.

I'm leaning towards no deal too.

5. I've never felt more like a peasant in this country. The country being for
"we the people" it seems is now an obsolete notion. George Carlin was 1000% correct about what this country is, but I think it well might go far beyond what George Carlin envisioned.

7. When you own and operate finance and commerce
you do have the advantage in these situations.

8. For what ever its worth I do believe a deal has been made a while ago
The back and forth shenanigans we are seeing from DC is just a diversion to make us all believe they are hard at work. However it turns out the common folk will not be happy and Obama will be a one term Prez.

10. That is why I'm for no deal except to simply raise the debt ceiling,
no strings attached.

13. Whether it happens before or after Aug. 2
I think you're right. I expect the President to sign any bill that can make it through both houses of Congress, no matter what it contains. He doesn't want to be blamed for the consequences of a veto.

14. No doubt. And there was no chance of a deal being struck before this week, either.
Edited on Mon Jul-25-11 01:51 AM by Marr
Everyone in the media is pretending that it's all up in the air; like this corporate-owned Congress would really crash Wall Street's fraud machine. The debt ceiling will be raised-- there's zero doubt of that. This is all theater. Just politicians building political cover for the deal they know they're going to push through.

15. The tone for capitulation was set
back during the health care reform talks when the public option was taken off the table before negotiations ever began. The Democrats have been an abysmal failure in dealing with the Republicans. We quickly have gone from the hope and joy of finally getting rid of Bush and having a Democratic president to WTF is going on.

I voted for Jim Webb and Mark Warner knowing that they weren't anywhere near as liberal as I want but the alternatives were completely unpalatable and I have felt for a long time like I have no representation in Washington. The country has continued it's rightward lurch and I don't see an end in sight.
